Suzanne S. DeFerie

Suzanne S. DeFerie has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Asheville Savings Bank since January, 2008 and its holding company, ASB Bancorp, Inc since its incorporation in May, 2011. Prior to becoming CEO, Ms. DeFerie was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of the Bank for 16 years. A native of Lenoir, North Carolina, she is a graduate of Appalachian State University, holds a CPA license and was employed by Deloitte and Touche as a Senior Audit Manager prior to joining Asheville Savings Bank in 1991. 

Ms. DeFerie is active in the Asheville community, currently serving as 2013-2014 Chair of the United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County Board of Directors, Treasurer of the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce board, member of the board of directors of Mission Health System, member of the board of trustees and Executive Committee member of Mission Healthcare Foundation, member of the Economic Development Coalition of Asheville- Buncombe County, Co-Chair of the 2011 Asheville 5x5 Economic Development campaign, 2010 United Way Campaign Chair, former Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the Asheville Area Habitat for Humanity, and a member of the Finance Council for the Basilica of St. Lawrence. She is also a graduate of Leadership Asheville, former board member of the Black Mountain Center Foundation and is a past president of the Asheville Breakfast Rotary Club.

David A. Kozak

David Kozak began his banking career in Scranton Pennsylvania 28+ years ago and has served in both regional banks such as PNC, BB&T, RBC, SunTrust, and several community banks. His areas of expertise include Commercial, Mortgage, Consumer, and Business lending, business development, and training.

Mr. Kozak is currently Vice-Chair of Avista Business Development Corp., Vice-Chair of The Health Adventure, Board Member for the American Red Cross and serves as a current member of the Asheville Rotary Club in addition to being a member of the Programs Committee for Leadership Asheville.  He has also served as Past President of the Hickory Kiwanis Club, Past President (two terms) and Treasurer for Kiwanis Club of East Burke, and Past President for Exchange Club of Hickory.

Fred A. Martin

Fred Martin joined Asheville Savings Bank in June 2006 and has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Information Officer since June 2007. Prior to joining the bank Mr. Martin served as North Carolina Lead Network Engineer and Assistant Director of Information Technology for South Trust Bank in North Carolina.

Kirby A. Tyndall

Kirby Tyndall has over 30 years of experience in the financial and public accounting industries. Mr. Tyndall is responsible for managing the bank’s financial and fiscal direction, including preparing budgets and financial reports and recommending financial strategy.

A native of North Carolina, Mr. Tyndall earned his undergraduate degree in accounting from Barton College and his M.B.A. from Lenoir-Rhyne University. He is a CPA, a CGMA, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants.

Vikki D. Bailey

Vikki Bailey  joined Asheville Savings Bank in 1976 and has served in various roles during banking career spanning 30+ years.  A native of Western North Carolina, Ms. Bailey’s experience includes Regional Management, City Executive in Marion and Hendersonville and business, mortgage and consumer lending. 

Ms Bailey is active in the community currently serving on the board of the Blue Ridge Community College Foundation. She is a graduate of Vision Henderson County and has also served on the board of United Way of Henderson County and the McDowell Hospital.
